Are you Scurry or Sniff or Hem or Haw?

Change happens.  The weather changes.  The seasons change.  Fashions change.  Benjamin Franklin said, “Nothing is sure but death and taxes.”  He could have added change to that list.  Change, like all things, is neither good nor bad.  It only holds the meaning that we ascribe to that change.  If you hate rain, you will probably still pray for it during a drought.  Personally, I am still praying that leisure suits and mullets never, ever, ever ever, EVER come back in style.

So how do handle change?  Do you embrace it or resist it?  Do you look for it or hide from it?  Are you Scurry or Sniff or Hem or Haw?

Adjusting to a new way of life…

Okay, okay, I know that I normally post a video Minute for Motivation but I am sitting here in my pajamas with no make-up and bedhead… not a pretty sight but I am inspired.  One of my Facebook friends posted a quote this morning and it sent me on a search.  I’ll get to the results in a moment.  What I really wanted to ask is:  once you hit a big goal or have a huge life event, what happens next?  Do you push to the next goal?  Do you go into a cave to hibernate and regenerate?  Do you wander around in wonder of what is next?

I am at the point where I have the nebulous dreams and goals for the next chapter.  I know the why, sort of.  I know the what, sort of.  I am patiently, sort of, allowing the Universe to work its magic. I have spent some time in my cave.  Now, I am wandering around in wonder.  There are so many possibilities and so many possible choices.

The quote was:

Instead of saying “I don’t have time” try saying “it’s not a priority,” and see how that feels. Often, that’s a perfectly adequate explanation. I have time to iron my sheets, I just don’t want to. But other things are harder. Try it: “I’m not going to edit your résumé, sweetie, because it’s not a priority.” “I don’t go to the doctor because my health is not a priority.” If these phrases don’t sit well, that’s the point. Changing our language reminds us that time is a choice. If we don’t like how we’re spending an hour, we can choose differently.

So what does this have to do with motivation?  My challenge in this next chapter of my life is to not get so busy being busy that I don’t have the space for the right opportunities when they appear.  This quote is a great reminder of my values.  Who is my priority?  What is my priority?  Does it show in my actions?  Even more important, does it show in my results?

I ask these questions of myself but I hope you are asking yourself the same questions.  Are you getting the results that you want?  Would you like help?  Please let me know.  I’d love to hear from you and I’d love to help.

All the best today and every day!
